Mrs. Morrison's fourth grade RLA class just finished their unit, Energy: Then and Now. The unit stressed the depletion of fossil fuels and what our future might look like should these nonrenewable resources run out. This particular unit dealt with cause and effect text structure and argumentative writing. The assessment for the unit was an essay where the students chose a future alternative energy to replace today's oil-lead energy.
They chose from solar, wind, hydroelectric, and biomass energies. They researched the pros and cons of their choice and wrote an argumentative essay stating a claim, reasons why, a counterclaim, and a conclusion with restatement.
The essays were truly amazing!!
