At the regular November board meeting, several important staff and students were recognized for their contributions to MISD.
Mrs. Ortiz, the elementary principal, recognized Lilee Jahn for being such an amazing first year teacher. She described how Miss Jahn started with the district as a teacher's assistant and rapidly progressed to teaching her own second-grade students. Mrs. Ortiz explained that Miss Jahn's students love her, and how her classroom runs like a well-oiled machine.
She also recognized Annabelle Stewart as an exemplary student in third grade. Mrs. Ramos and Mrs. Janak contributed their kind words describing Annabelle as a leader in the classroom and well as a ray of sunshine!
Ms. Irwin, the high school principal, recognized April Simper for all she does as our newest MISD counselor. Her job involves a wide range of tasks such as scholarship preparation, FAFSA meeting organization, counseling students on both personal and academic challenges, and many more. MISD is lucky to have such a great person to work with our students!
She also recognized Dawton Quarles as her chosen student to receive this award. She described him as intelligent, caring, adaptive, and a great actor to boot! Thank you, Dawton, for being a great role model for your fellow students.
