ELECTION INFORMATION
Welcome to the Moulton ISD trustee elections page! This page is intended to provide information about the election of the members of the Moulton ISD Board of Trustees.
General Information
The Moulton ISD Board of Trustees is comprised of seven members. All seven are elected from single-member districts. Board elections are held on the uniform election date in May of each year. Trustees are elected to three-year terms. Future elections are as follows:
May 2025: Districts 1, 2, 3, 5, 6
To participate in School Board elections, you must be a registered voter and live within the school district's boundaries. Please see the attached document for information regarding the deadline for filing for an office.
Eligibility and Filing for Candidacy
To be eligible to be a candidate for, or elected or appointed to, the office of school board member, a person must:
1. Be a United States citizen.
2. Be 18 years of age or older on the first day of the term to be filled at the election or on the date of appointment, as applicable.
3. Have not been determined by a final judgment of a court exercising probate jurisdiction to be totally mentally incapacitated or partially mentally incapacitated without the right to vote.
4. Have not been finally convicted of a felony from which the person has not been pardoned or otherwise released from the resulting disabilities.
5. Have resided continuously in the state for 12 months and in the territory from which the office is elected for six months immediately preceding the filing date. Election Code 1.020, 141.001(a); Gov’t Code 601.009; Brown v. Patterson, 609 S.W.2d 287 (Tex. Civ. App.—Dallas 1980, no writ); Tex. Const. Art. XVI, Sec. 14.
6. Be registered to vote in the territory from which the office is elected.
An application for a place on the ballot must be filed with the District not later than 5 p.m. of the 62nd day before election day. An application may not be filed earlier than the 30th day before the date of the filing deadline.
